We met as teenagers, years ago now,Talking came easy, don’t ask us how.It felt familiar right from the start,Like something steady, simple, and smart. We drifted apart, then back again,Till Jordan said “Camping?”, a bold move then.Avril said “No, are you feeling alri?”So coffee it was, in broad daylight. That “quick coffee” lasted most of the day,A kiss crept in and gave us away.By that evening it all made sense,This felt like more than a coincidence. A few months later, no point in pretending,This wasn’t a fling, it was clearly extending.“I love you” landed, easy and slow,So March 8th stuck and we’ve kept it so. Jordan keeps calm, Avril keeps pace,Somehow together it all finds its place.When days go sideways and nerves are spun,Avril gives out briefly, all part of the fun. Jordan shows love with tea on demand,And making the bed (against his plans).He does the small things, no sighs, no moans,Even when Avril’s on quality control. From early school days to growing up, growing older, and everything in between, these friendships have spanned decades and countless memories. Over the years, that circle has grown even wider. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to Derry! We know many of you are travelling from near and far, and we’re so grateful to everyone for making the journey to celebrate with us. Below are a few handy tips to help you plan your journey, depending on where you’re travelling from. If you’re making a bit of a trip of it, be sure to check out the Things To Do page for some of our favourite spots and recommendations while you’re here.

Getting around locally

Beech Hill Country House is just a short drive from Derry city centre, and taxis are readily available in the area. If you’re staying nearby, hotels will also be happy to help arrange transport.

From Dublin

Derry is around a 3.5–4 hour drive from Dublin, depending on traffic. We recommend driving via M1, you'll pass one toll on the M1 near Drogheda. Via this route, you will drive through Belfast which might be a nice stopping point for lunch. There are also regular bus services from Dublin Airport and Dublin city centre (Busaras) to Derry if you’d prefer not to drive. These can be booked through <a href="https://www.expressway.ie/journey-search" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bus Éireann Expressway</a>. Prices are dynamic so book in advance.Recommended Drop Off: Derry (Ulsterbus Depot Foyle St.)

From the UK

The best airports to land in, if travelling from the UK are: <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/FxgvEX9soSzrEtJK7" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">City of Derry Airport</a> or <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/xWnpTU7fJRtDgHiY7" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Belfast International Airport</a> We’d really recommend renting a car if you’re travelling internationally. It’s the easiest way to get around and a great way to explore the beautiful North of Ireland while you’re here. You can rent a car at Belfast International Airport and the journey takes approximately 1hr 15 mins. If you prefer not to drive and are travelling from UK: You can get a coach from Belfast International Airport (Coach Park, Bay 3) to Derry City (Foyleside Coach Park) via <a href="https://www.aircoach.ie/?c=1767790628" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Aircoach</a>. The journey takes approximately 2 hours. Single and return tickets are available. Ferries to Belfast or Dublin are another great option if you’re bringing a car, with Derry just a few hours’ drive from either.

International Travel

For guests travelling from further afield, the most convenient airports are:- City of Derry Airport (small but very handy)- Belfast International Airportbut your most likely choice: Dublin Airport Again, we would really recommend renting a car to give you freedom to explore!Alternatively, team up with other guests to ride share or view our From Dublin section above to see public transport options.

Getting here 

We’re so excited to be celebrating our wedding at Beech Hill Country House in Derry. The venue has a limited number of bedrooms (30 in total), which have been reserved for our close family and wedding party - see end of page for booking instructions. For everyone else, we’ve organised room blocks in two nearby hotels, The Maldron and DaVinci's Hotels both just a short 10-15 minute drive from the venue. There is free parking available for all on the wedding venue grounds and taxis are easy to book in Derry. You’ll find all the booking details and deadlines below. If you do not secure a room within the deadline, there may still be rooms available so worth a call or look online in any case. Just a little heads up, the Derry Foyle Cup is taking place during our wedding week, so accommodation in the area is likely to book up quickly. We’d really recommend booking sooner rather than later. There are also lots of lovely Airbnb options around Derry, which can be a more affordable choice if that suits you better.

We’ve got 10 rooms held at a special rate of £150 per room per night (B&amp;B) for Saturday 25th July (the night of the wedding) and 5 rooms for the 24th July if anyone wants to travel the day before. The Recovery Session Our Day 2 is very casual, swing by for a pizza, a pint, or just a chat before you head back on the road. Wedding days fly by in a blur, so this is our excuse to actually get proper time with you all (and compare sore heads). There are zero obligations - drop in, dip out, stay for five minutes or five hours. Whatever suits! Things kick off from 1pm, with the bar serving until 6pm.Food will be served at 2:30pm and again at 3:30pm depending on when people arrive. For anyone who still has a bit of fight left, we’ll be heading into Derry City afterwards to keep the party going.

Derry is a city steeped in history, culture, and character. One of the best ways to experience it is on foot, with a range of guided walking tours that explore the city’s medieval walls, its role in The Troubles, and how this history has shaped the community you see today. If you plan to do a bit of sight seeing around Derry, there is a visitor pass available that grants entry to 10 different things for the price of £30.00 (1 day) or £35.00 (2 day). The Bloody Sunday-Bogside murals tour will take you into the heart of the Bogside district of Derry,&nbsp;the crucible of the modern day conflict in Ireland. This 90 minute walking tour will begin at Free Derry Wall and take you round some of the Bogside murals and the site of the massacre of Bloody Sunday and finish at the Bloody Sunday monument in view of the Derry Walls, it will look at the key periods leading up to and during the Irish-British conflict. Tours leave from the front steps of the Guildhall, facing the city walls. Departing twice a day at 11.00am and 1.00pm, 7 days a week, all year around. Bloody Sunday and Bogside Murals Walking Tour

The award-winning Museum of Free Derry recently re-opened its doors in the Bogside following an extensive redevelopment and offers a full multi-media exhibition on the civil rights and early conflict era in the city, including Battle of the Bogside, Internment, Bloody Sunday and Operation Motorman. The museum was established by the Bloody Sunday Trust in 2006 to tell the story of the civil rights movement and the creation of Free Derry in the 1960s and 1970s, and it has become an important part of Ireland’s radical and civil rights heritage. It tells the story of how a largely working class community rose up against the years of oppression it had endured. The struggle of Free Derry is part of a wider struggle in Ireland and internationally for freedom and equality for all. In 2018, the Museum of Free Derry was named Authentic NI Experience of the Year at the Northern Ireland Tourism Awards in Belfast. Craft Village

The historic hub of Derry's nightlife,&nbsp;Waterloo Street&nbsp;was the place were Irish emigrants in centuries past would gather in inns and taverns from all over the north west for a last get together before setting sail from Irish soil for a new life in America, Australia, England, Scotland or elsewhere Waterloo Street runs from William Street up to Butcher's Gate, and you won't be stuck for a pint, if you happen to find yourself on it. It has a total of six bars, all on the right hand side as you head up it. Starting with Tracy's, Peadar O'Donnell's, The Gweedore, The Dungloe, Bound for Boston, and finally The Rocking Chair.

Things to do outside of Derry

About a 20 minute drive away from Derry An Grianán of Aileach&nbsp;(Greenan Fort)&nbsp;is&nbsp;a significant Iron Age stone ringfort on Greenan Mountain in County Donegal, Ireland, known for its stunning panoramic views over Lough Swilly and Lough Foyle, and its deep roots in Irish mythology and history as a royal seat of the&nbsp;Northern Uí Néill&nbsp;dynasty.&nbsp;This impressive circular structure, built without mortar and featuring terraces and passages, was a major cultural and political center, with its current appearance largely being a 19th-century reconstruction of an ancient stronghold

Grianan Of Aileach

About a 1 hour drive from Derry, pair with Carrick a Rede rope bridge which is a further 10 minute drive! The Giant's Causeway is&nbsp;a spectacular natural wonder on Northern Ireland's coast, featuring around 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, mostly hexagonal, formed by ancient volcanic activity about 60 million years ago, creating stepping stones leading into the sea and inspiring legends of the giant Finn McCool building a path to Scotland.&nbsp;This UNESCO World Heritage site offers unique geology, dramatic scenery, and folklore, with formations like the Wishing Chair and Giant's Boot. Carrick-a-Rede&nbsp;(pronounced Carrick-a-reed) is&nbsp;a famous and exhilarating rope bridge in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, connecting the mainland to the tiny Carrickarede island, a popular stop on the&nbsp;Causeway Coastal Route&nbsp;known for stunning coastal views, wildlife, and its history as a salmon fishing spot. Giant's Causeway

13 minute drive from Derry Step back in time into an ancient woodland inhabited by extinct creatures to experience some of Ireland’s ancient lost wildlife. Walk among the ancient trees and encounter Bears, Wolves, Lynx and Monkeys on your journey through the past. ‘Wild Ireland’ is located on the Wild Atlantic Way and is the newest and most exciting visitor attraction in the North West of Ireland. Just a few centuries ago, Ireland was clothed in a thick blanket of Temperate Celtic Rainforest. Due to destruction and deforestation, this woodland has all but disappeared, in a small pocket of remaining woodland on the Inishowen peninsula, the hands of time have been rolled back to an era were ferocious beasts ruled the Irish countryside. Come see our Brown bears, European Wolves and Lynx back together in the Irish forest for the first time in thousands of years. Here they live in their natural habitat in the temperate rainforest. There are lots of resources to plan a Wild Atlantic Way drive accessible from Derry. The link below brings you to a 3 day planned drive including Giant's Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. The next day it brings you to Inisowen Peninsula (i.e. start of the Wild Atlantic Way). The Wild Atlantic Way is a 2,500 km signed coastal route that runs continuously from Inishowen, Donegal all the way down to West Cork. Once you've arrived at Inisowen Peninsula, your starting point is Malin head (official start and most northern point of Ireland). From here, you’re fully on the Wild Atlantic Way. To continue on, here are some key sights to see as you travel south: DonegalSlieve League (among Europe’s highest cliffs) and Glenveagh National Park SligoSurf beaches, Strand Hill (Stand Bar is our favourite - Club Pizza all the waaaay).
